I'm not in a book club, or any other club for that matter, but what I'd really like to be in is a cooking club. Something where friends gather and create with food. I'm not sure how it all comes together, like if the "host" cooks everything, or just picks a theme and everyone brings a dish within that theme, but I do think it would be so much fun. Cooking can be so creative and such a treat for the senses, it can only be better spent with a group of friends ready to eat! Anyone interested?
that would be so fun, i'd do it.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea!!!! Cooking is one of my favorite things to do!! If I'm ever in CA then I'd like to join in!! : )
ReplyDeleteI'm in, as long as it doesn't go the way of the swap soiree and Susannah and I don't fight over some sort of chocolate star fruit concoction.

My parents gourmet dinner group is one of my favorite memories and how I became interested in food and wine at a very young age.
ReplyDeleteThere were 10 couples and 2 singles and each would host a multicourse meal, often themed, paired with wines.
Dinners were held once a month and were quite a production. I still have some of the old menus listing the courses, the wines, and an occasional recipe.
Of course, not everyone has the space or budget for a 24-person dinner these days. I know that my tiny condo could hold 6-8 max! The number of participants or frequency of the dinners could always be scaled accordingly. with fewer couples/hosts or dinners held every other month...
I would love to have the opportunity to participate in a dinner club at some point in my life. Sharing good food and wine is a very underrated pleasure, imo.
Me! Too bad we live several states apart. :(
ReplyDeletetanya - I LOVE this! so not only will we be eating gourmet goodies, but we'll be creating great memories for the kids - now I really want to do it. My friend Jenny (a pastry chef) said she's head this one up, so I'm really excited. I love the idea of the menus - I'd save every one of 'em.
