and a crafty day it was!
Summer kid-project alert! Today we made big chunky heart shaped crayons - no need to buy a thing, plus it helped clean up tons of stray crayons living in the corners of Ruby's room. Just chop up old crayons, fill heart-shaped tins with fun color combos, bake at 150 degrees for 20 minutes and let cool. They'll pop right out - ready to draw!

I should totally do this with my niece, she would love it :)
i would have LOVED these as a little girl!
That is awesome! And a good idea for party favors or something. Do the crayons pop right out of the heart shaped tins?
PF - it really is awesome, Ruby and her friends were stoked, I packed each of them a bag-to-go. They do pop right out, after they've cooled. I stuck the tray in the freezer for a minute to speed it up. Oh, and glitter crayons added an extra-coolness factor.
I do that with students once a year. We take the useless crayons that nobody wants to use and make ones that EVERYONE wants to use. Works in the toaster oven with candy tins. I stick them in the freezer before popping them out!
What a great idea! I'm going to try it with my two boys tomorrow!
Ohhhh, will do...thanks.
I love this! where do you get the heart shaped tins from?
