food {for the soul}
I know better than to turn to food when I'm feeling down, but sometimes it really does do the trick. The days here have been bitterly cold, I'm not working, and my husband (get this) is in Nicaragua surfing in the warm sunshine. Hmmph. Cinnamon toast to the rescue! Just a day-old sourdough baguette toasted up with butter, honey and cinnamon. No complaints. But still, Nicaragua? C'mon now.

As a fellow water widow I feel your pain. I have been left for the waves of Mexico, Costa Rica, for the open sailing oceans of Key West, Antigua and St. Maarten. All I can say is eat all the cinnamon toast you want. In bed. Crunch some crumbs on his side and snuggle in to watch some shamelessly girlie tv with a stack of magazines resting where his head should be.
Nicaragua is awesome! Is your husband at San Juan del Sur (Las Maderas) or La Boquita? We've surfed at both -- in fact my husband just got back from there after Thanksgiving. I couldn't go because work was too busy, but I look forward to going in a few months. To be honest, my husband and my brother are the ones that surf -- the rest of us just kind of paddle around attempting to surf. :) (In our defense, we don't get much quality surfing time during a summer in Michigan, so we do what we can.)
Ahhh...cinnamon toast. Just thinking about it gives me a sense of warm + well being.
*hugs*
I've had a couple of weeks of girls night...and ready for husband to return from New Zealand/Australia seeing our daughter. I'm addicted to BRAVO while he's away and roasted red peppers (no clue why -but they ARE good!)He deserved a "reward" after the year he's had with medical ups and downs- but it will be GREAT to have him home, feeling guilty (!!!) and enjoying his company :)
